ROPS FAQ

What is ROPS, and why is it important?
ROPS stands for Roll Over Protective Structure. Cabs, canopies and guards that have been tested and certified ROPS are engineered to protect the machine operator from serious injury or death in the event of a rollover. Simply put, ROPS products save lives.

How do you design and engineer a ROPS product?
Utilizing the latest in engineering software combined with years of experience, Jodale Perry's project group develops ROPS products engineered to withstand severe rollovers. The viability of a design is then confirmed in Jodale Perry's in-house static ROPS test facility, certifying the product to national and international safety standards (i.e. SAE, OSHA, ASAE, ANSI, CSA, ISO)

Do I keep my machine's existing rollguard on?
No, Jodale Perry's products are all solid-welded ROPS, with the existing rollguard removed to accommodate their installation. Some of our ROPS canopies are modular to the machine's rollguard at the request of the equipment manufacturer.

Am I protected in the non-ROPS cab that mounts over, or in front of a machine's existing rollguard?
No, in fact they may even increase your risk of injury or death by collapsing onto the operator during a rollover.

In what other ways can I protect myself in a rollover?
Most importantly, make sure your machine is equipped with an approved seatbelt and use it at all times. Also, train operators to the safe operation of the machine - avoiding severe inclines, drop-offs or high traffic areas.

Are all of Jodale Perry's products ROPS certified?
No, machines with a low gross vehicle weight do not require ROPS protection, nor are they engineered or equipped for it (i.e. seatbelts, etc.). For those machines Jodale Perry offers a non-ROPS product that is still manufactured of solid-welded tubular steel to prevent its collapse onto the operator in the event of a rollover.

Are Jodale Perry products difficult to mount?
Many cabs on the market require pre-assembly and a large amount of mounting parts and fasteners. Jodale Perry's cabs, on the other hand, are simple to mount. In fact most of our Boxer cabs are designed to drop on to the machine, with the only installation requiring being the mounting assemblies and floormat. But, with all of our products, we recommend that you have your dealer take care of the mounting for you.

Can I order my Jodale Perry product in a different color or with non-listed options?
Special orders can be placed, both in terms of color and options. Contact your dealer or Jodale Perry for specific details.
